CZ85C action report
« on: June 20, 2005, 12:01:55 PM »
Over the weekend I put 400 rounds through an 85C that had just come back from Miossi Gun Works with the new MGW sear and an action/trigger job. When new, my pistol had a 7  lb SA trigger and a DA pull right at 12 lbs; even in SA mode, there was some grit and, of course, the usual trigger camming.

I asked Jim Miossi for a lightened and smooth DA trigger and an SA pull that was crisp at 3.5 lbs. Jim quoted a three to four week turnaround and would e-mail me from time to time with questions and up-dates.

Exactly three weeks later, FedEx handed me a MGW modified pistol with a very smooth DA pull of 8.3 lbs and a nice, crisp SA trigger that broke cleanly at 3.4 lbs. No camming. Jim polished the relevant internals and to my eye, did a fine and careful job. Operation was flawless over the 400 firings which included a series of weak-hand drills. For me, the DA-to-SA transition has become easily manageable and my times on informal plate shoots dropped as a result. I look forward to working to bring out the best in my new pistol.

If my experience is typical, I believe that the quality of Jim's work fully justifies the cost. Did I mention that Jim returned the gun precisely on time?

Good to know there is a good CZ smith out there. I will keep him in mind for the future. Thanks for the eval.
