Experiences with holster material?
« on: December 07, 2010, 09:18:53 AM »
Seeing as how I would like to keep the finish on my 82 as long as possible (and have no desire at this time to take apart and reassemble 842  ;D parts), what experiences has everyone had with holsters in the way of abrasiveness on the finish?  Is kydex more abrasive?  Or are the nylon type??  leather?

Actually, it's only like 51 or 52 parts, some of which can be tedious to reassemble!

Leather versus kydex is almost like which caliber is best; you'll get endless discussions on both. Kydex is slicker, lighter, and longer lasting then leather "in general," but leather is prettier, often more comfortable. Which wears the finish more is debatable. Much depends on whether the holster is designed to fit that particular model gun. The difficult part is finding quality holsters for the -82 to begin with.

Agree with the leather vs kydex being close to the same and add a no way vote for blued guns and nylon. Seems to buff down to metal quickly although it doesn't seem to bother park type finishes as much, just shining them up a bit.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?
