Picked up first gun (85 combat)

Had the gun (my first gun) for about a week now.   I have shot several friends guns as well as rentals and I really love this pistol, especially after firing about 800 rnds.  The trigger is finally starting to break in a little.  I expect it will be even better after the next 1000 rnds.  The range finally got some 9mm snap-caps in so I can do a little work at home now.

I have done a fair amount of shooting but would still consider myself a novice+ shooter.  The range has a pistol stand that I used to tweak the sights.  Once set, I was putting one big hole dead center in the paper at 50ft.  Still had a nice grouping at 25 yrds.  Will be better when I get new glasses, lol.

I had one FTE my last time out after shooting about 200rds w/o adding any slide oil.  The gun was hot and the slide didn't move as smoothly as usual.  May have limp wristed it too, who knows.  I shot about another 100 rnds and didn't have a problem.  After field stripping it, cleaning, and oiling, the slide moved perfectly.

I had one problem (and only once) where the slide didn't catch after the last round was fired.  I have noticed a groove like scratch starting to form on the followers of both my 15 rnd mags I use at the range.  Is this normal?  If not, what should (can) I do to fix this?

Rather than slide oil, my preference is Moly Lube.  It works well when its minus 10 outside or plus 35.  I shoot lead round nose, and dirt does not stick to this as much as I have seen it stick to oil products.  About the mag followers being worn - I think it may be an issue with your 15 round mags, as I still do not have wear on my 10's which I drop all the time in IPSC.

I just noticed that I answered a question that was not your question at all.  Again though, when we go to the range next I'll have to take a look.  If it is what I think it is pretty normal.  When the round is pushed forward out of the mag I think it sometimes leaves scratches, I've noticed a straight scratch (or three) on the follower of most of my mags.  If it follows the track the round would take when being pushed out of the mag I wouldn't worry too much.  Though we'll compare it to my mags next time at the range.
