Question about extended firing pin
« on: January 30, 2011, 09:35:16 PM »
I've been thinking of installing an extended firing pin on my carry gun but I've heard that if you carry hammer down (which I may want to do) that the firing pin protrudes out of the breech face. Is this in any way unsafe, either while cambering a round or if it where dropped on the hammer, or would the FPB still prevent a discharge?

On my 75B the extended FP does not protrude and it's still recessed behind the opening.

The 'slot' in the firing pin still engages the FPB exactly the same way it did with the stock FP.

From my 'getting-older-every-minute' memory, seems like the tip is somewhere close .02" longer than the stock FP.

It works as advertised.

Hope this is useful.

psssst...you know what i heard.  :D

sorry..The CZ ext firing pin is good to go in DA/SA or SAO.
IIRC..the ext firing pin that Henning makes for the large frame Tanfoglio will do this, it is set up to be just under flush of the breech face and be used in single action guns only. Henning has a small frame ext firing pin that will run with the Stock II in DA/SA.

So now "again" we are mixing CZ Parts with Tanfoglio parts.
Wow where does it stp?

CZ parts are just that for CZ's

Tangfoglios are clones and the parts "may" cross over in some instances but buyer beware!

:)
Not mixing parts and platforms..but since so many people think the clones are similar, that they are not in some critical areas. and the the info he got, might have been picked up from Hennnings site on Tanfoglio extended firing pins.

sorry if I threw a fog on the issue.

Nah Stuart your fine, not fogging.
I know you are out there looking out for the brand, just like to try to put "internet" forum fires out before they start.

Plenty of people have done cross platform modification, I know you gave done many, they can work but need an experience eye, to make sure you are not getting into potentially dangerous situation.

Can't tell you how many times we have had "non working" guns come back the owner SWEARS have not been touched and we find all sorts of issues inside them that were definitly not factory or us :-)
