FTF question
« on: December 16, 2005, 07:04:20 PM »
The saga continues.....

Going on week 4 waiting for my CZ97B to clear NYS CoBIS. To pass the time I've been reading all the posts on this site. Feel like I know the CZ97B inside and out, even though I haven't fired it yet!

Anyway, Is there any method to handling a FTF (Which means failure to feed, right?) that I should be aware of, or is it just a matter of racking the slide to clear/reload the round? Is it  necessary to pull out the magazine to clear a FTF?

I understand from the posts here that a CZ97B FTF is "usually" due to 1). Magazine not seated high enough, 2)., Feed ramp may need polishing, 3). Possible heavier recoil spring replacement needed, or 4). Just bad ammo.

Are their any other types of jams that I should be aware of, and  how to deal with?

Another thought hit me. Is there any periodic inspection of the pistol I should do,after shooting x number of rounds, like looking for cracked parts, bent springs, stripped bushing threads, things like that? I'm not trying to diss the CZ97B, but it seems from all the posts I've read here it doesn't hurt to look for possible part failures in the CZ or ANY brand of auto pistol.

Thanks!
