I'm committed....
« on: April 08, 2011, 11:27:04 PM »
Well, I must be really sold on the VZ-58 platform.  I've been an AK avocate for years.  My current AK is (was) a Saiga 7.62x39 restored to AK103 form.  Then I got the VZ 58 (VZ2008).  It was love at first sight, love at first firing. After the watermelon demolition derby and it performing so well, I was convinced.  Then today, my brother in law offered me $600 for my Saiga!  It was a no brainer.  He has a Saiga now, and I just have one 7.62x39...the VZ58.

Absolutely no remorse.  It just gives me more rounds for the VZ58! ;D

Nice! Now you need another vz-58, more mags, more accessories, etc...

Ranger I look at my saiga and sometimes think the same thing. You gave a VERY fair price too. Right now they are scarce and arsenal has conditioned folks to accept converted saigas are expensive and top notch. I have an ace folder, alum tri rail, AR style brake, romanian FSB. Threading the barrel was fun :( I am hanging onto it for now but might be tempted to cash it in the next time a ban hysteria hits. They seem to roll around annually lately.

I like a lot of folks are cash strapped but I flipped a lot of my arms into other arms. I had collected a nice set of cowboy shooters and never really got into it. I turned a marlin 1894CB, 2 stainless ruger vaqueros, a chinese coach gun, SKS, S&W 915, kobra red dot into 2 vz2008s, 2 S&W 5906, 1 mossberg 500 camo turkey gun, 1K ammo, a PA red dot, slew of misc accessories especially for the VZ. I ended up spending more than I took in but not by a horrible margin. Almost sold my S&W 29 but snapped too and came to my senses. Got it at a steal deal and it is pristine. All in all I am real happy with my new stuff choices but already miss some of the dearly departed. But unlike liberal politicians I have to make choices and financial compromises.

Where did you buy yours from?

I got mine from Centerfire Systems at the beginning of the year when they were $349.  I LOVE IT.  The only malfunction I had was a FTF from a surplus magazine that had a cracked feed lip.

I REALLY love mine after I got it back from Century and Ron taught it how it was supposed to act! I had mentioned doing the same thing to be able to afford another, and my wife said "you've got so much blood, sweat and tears in the Saigas, that I can't see you getting rid of one....to which I replied with a grin. She knows how much I love my VZ!!! Never felt a rifle feel so good in the hands, and against the shoulder!

I have to rant.  >:(
I'm losing patience. I've been waiting since February for my replacement rifle. I've already bought a muzzle device and neitarms tac bolt releases for the 2 rifles I'm waiting for. My FFL already charged me 30 dollars for the first rifle (I've sent back a wood stock rifle to because of damaged rifling in the barrel.) If I cancel now it's down the drain. If I cancel now I have a stinkin' feeling it'll come back in stock just to spite me. bleep it Century! Hurry the heck up!

Bubba, I sincerely hope that you are able to get your rifles, that is one of the worst things, waiting and being at the mercy of others when you want something that you should have had right to start with! I lucked up with mine getting it back as quick as I did, and didn't have to wait for a replacement!

B., I have made a new convert! My neighbor finally got to come over and said that his dad that was visiting was jus going on and on about "some new rifle that Jake has and you just gotta see it". Well, he took one look and started smiling! It was love at first sight! He said" ya got any ammo handy? (Silly question!) And I haven't fired it much since I put the new CNC Warrior on it. Long story short, a few hundred rounds later, he was asking "where do I get one? I told him that unless a miricle happened, gunbroker was the ONLY place as of right now. Well, as soon as he gets paid, I hope they have one, cause y'all will hear him holler all across the country if they don't have one for sell!!!  ;D
That is one nice brake, but you had better have some hearing protection on....talking about LOUD!!!

I really like the Vz2008.  Though, I'm still up in the air about whether I like it more than my WASR.  Both are solid shooters, but the Vz2008 definately attracts more good attention (the WASR attracts more bad attention).

You don't need a miracle. Dan at Czechpoint "the sponsor of the forum you are posting on" has VZ 58s in stock. Excellent product, customer service and the best warranty bar none. Show some respect.
Beware of DoGooders. They never sleep.

You are right sir, I stand corrected. I wish I could afford one of the origionals. Speaking of the VZ58, I've been wondering why they don't come with threaded barrels and bayonet lug?
I do appreciate the privelege of being a member of this board, as there is a wealth of information and help here.
