Limited 10 -- major scoring requires .40 caliber or larger and the minimum PF.  There is no 9mm major or .38 Super in Limited/Limited 10.

Open -- basically, as long as you meet the minimum PF, you are good.

Production -- if you shoot production, then everything is minor, irrespective of the caliber as long as you meet the minimum minor PF.  I have read some people like shooting .40 caliber and load lower PF as the gun shoots "softer."  I have no personal experience here.

As the gun is set up.
He could not shoot 9mm in production as you cannot use a barrel conversion in that division.
He could shoot .40 and be in production, it would be scored minor.
or he could shoot L10 with .40 and shoot major if meets the powerfactor or shoot the barrel conversion and shoot 9mm scored minor.
Of course the gun also qualifies for open and limited divisions in either caliber.

Thanks for the feedback guys ... so much to learn  :-\

Of course the gun also qualifies for open and limited divisions in either caliber.

Too bad the shooter doesn't  :D
