CZ97B New Barrel Bushing
« on: January 19, 2004, 12:38:09 AM »

Last December I saw a new version of CZ97B having not only a front slide serration but a different barrel bushing configuration (which I think is very nice & cool ) and a larger hole on the hammer (almost like the commander hammer of a 1911). Does anyone of you guys know where could I get/buy this new barrel bushing , preferably on-line ? Any experience on this new version particularly on the new bushing's accuracy & durability ?
     Thank you in advance.:rolleyes

The new bushing has six notches as opposed to the one notch old ones.  I think you can buy them from cz-usa.com.
As far as durability n accurecy I'm not sure.
From what I have read in posts here and experienced myself, it seems that it all depends on how well you can tighten it without overtightening.  The increased number of notches is supposed to make it easeir to do just that but some have been able to make adjustments at home.
The thread on the bushing of my brand new 97b began to fall apart after 190 rounds.  I had adjusted it from finger loose to the next notch which proved to be too tight or if you look at it from another point of view...the bushing's thread was not strong enough to handle the snug fit during firing. There seems to be very little room for error between too loose - barrel/bushing rattling and tight enough to eliminate the rattling but not so tight that the thread of the bushing would be put under too much stress during firing. At least that's what I've learned so far.
I'm supposed to get my 97b back from warranty bushing replacement and some other work tomorrow. :D
You might want to do some looking around for older threads here to learn more.

DonNikmare - thank you for the information. So far I've only replaced the recoil spring on my 97B from 13lbs to wolff's 16lbs. The barrel bushing (older version) is still good after about 2k and the accuracy hasn't sufferred yet. I just find the new bushing attractive & have just inquired from CZ-USA but unfortunately no response yet. I've also added a made to order SS recoil guide and an LPA adjustable sight with matching Hogue wrap around grips (feels slimmer than the original walnut grips). Magazines which are originally intended for Jericho's .45cal. also fit and work just fine , I have two of them now. My CZ97B is most reliable (and accurate) with 230gr.Speer Lawman though Armscor ammos work satisfactory also.
Hope to hear on your 97's work results.;)

I will post a separate thread on the work results.
I am curious....you are the first one I've heard of using Jericho mags - do they have the same capacity n are they double stacked n how much did you pay for them?
I would like to get a Houge wrap for mine.  Do you happen to know the type/part number or other way of identifying it?  Where did you get it from?  I would like to know because I spent some time at the local "Cheaper Than Dirt" store looking for one n could not tell which one would fit n none of them had the 97b listed on the package.
I hope you hear back from CZ-USA soon. I've had good luck reaching them over the phone 1(800)955-4486.  I had to leave a message once n never heard from them but a person has answered every time I have called since as long as it was during their business hours.

As noted elsewhere, I just picked up an Asai 1 Pro from another participant here on the Forum.

Its made by Magnum Research (the frame, anyhow) and assembled and fitted in Switzerland.

It uses the same mags as the CZ-97B and the Witness full-size .45.  (And, by inference, since its got a Magnum Research frame, its probably the same mags being discussed above.  Mec-Gar, most likely.  These are marked that way.)

This is the "compact" 97B everyone was asking for. 3.75" barrel.

Nik - I forgot to tell you that I'm from Philippines. The Hogue wrap around that I use is for CZ75/85. You'll need a bit of stretching to install it.Also , after installation your mags won't drop free anymore (empty mag).I've sanded mine (inner side) a little so as not to interfere with the mag. Jerichos are popular here in the Phils. but CZ has the better share and a lot more user. Jericho has it in different calibers (9mm. , .40 & .45 ) from full size to sub compact.I have the 941FS (safety on the frame ,compact & has a 16 rnds capacity mag ) in 9mm & a .40cal. full size conversion kit (12 rnds. cap.). The magazines for .45cal. Jericho will work with 97B though it's not from Mec-Gar (it doesn't have the mark). The magazine's poly base is a bit longer (same thickness) than the original mag. I bought mine for Php 2.5k or more or less US$ 45. The Hogue wrap around for CZ is around US$ 20 here in the Phils.. I hope that CZ-USA answers my E-mail , really want to have that spare barrel bushing (new ).:)

Good news , CZ-USA responded to my E-mail (parts inquiry/order). They directed me to P.B.Dionisio ( Phils. authorized distributor of CZ products) and sure enough got an immediate reply. PBD is importing CZ parts now & will be available this coming April '04. PBD said they'll inform me once parts arrive.
   Good customer service CZ-USA & thanks to P.B.Dionisio.:D :D
