Unforch no pics. I went to a new range out in the boonies today. It's an outdoor thing with great under-cover shooters benches etc.
When I was in my teens a fellow that worked for my father gave me an old VZ24 8MM Mauser. 30 years ago it got a box of freshly loaded ammo run through it. Then away it went into it's bag and only ever saw the light of day on the rare occasion. a few weeks ago I got it out and cleaned it well. It had a lot of copper fouling.
Today I dragged the '24 with me to the range as they have 100, 200 and 400 yard target stands for rifles.
I tool two boxes of 15 rounds milsurp ammo with me.
Now bear in mind this rifle has not been shot in more than 30 years. I'm now middle aged and my eyes are, in a word, crappy.
I had help from a spotter. I managed to hit an 8" steel plate on the 200 yard stand 4 times with 20 rounds. The rest of my shots were landing very close (within inches) to the plate. While this is not something to crow about I'm kinda happy. 1. The rifle still shoots. 2. With my cruddy eyes I managed to get close and even hit an 8" plate at 200 yards with the original open sights.
I need to either figure out how to adjust the sights or I need to finger out a way to mount a nice big Bushnell scope I have sitting around.
I also took my CZ52 and Hi-Point 9MM carbine. Both put lead on a lot of steel. I'm now hooked on steel targets! bleep good fun.
