I managed to get myself up and out the door on time, bag full of fresh tester loads for the Phantom, plus some more I'd done of a previous tester. Also decided to drag along the vz-58, just because.
I got the 75 yard range to myself this time, a rarity since that private security guard outfit discovered this range - they take over the 75 yard range to do qualifications and barbecue. Hard to shoot when you smell barbecue next door...
I also remembered to take the camera this time, and here's publicity photo I snapped.

CZ hat, CZ shirt, CZ range bag, CZ pistol, I was in THE ZONE. Then...the bee came back. No, didn't get stung, but it's hard to strike a dramatic pose while being buzzed...
Lets get busy. A few baggies of loads with that new 125 grain Lee cast bullet. Same as last time, 10 yards, two hand standing, and GO!

Not great.

Not bad.

Shows potential.

Say what? Upside down?
Huh? You nuts?
No, not really, but I got goofy, and decided to try it.

I really did fire a magazine full just like this, and discovered a few things. One, the pistol worked perfectly. Two, the brim of my hat normally catches a lot of grit from reloads that drifted down on my face instead. Three, that dadgum sun was BRIGHT! Four, finding the spent brass was very easy, all in a little pile right under my head.
While shooting right side up, I experienced my FIRST EVER JAMs with the Phantom! Two of the 125 grain cast reloads did not go fully into battery. I think I need to shorten these up just a tad more to be sure, as the ogive is wider, and I did go pretty close to the lands with this load.
Then it was time for a little fun with the vz-58, trying new loads with AA #1680 and H4895, since AA changed all their data recently. I used the Perhle police target, and discovered I have more work to do with those, and that this rifle will eat anyone's lunch fired standing at 50 yards.

The vz-58 is just too much fun to shoot. Fired off many rounds this time, 2 full hours before I realized broiling alive is only survivable for a cartoon character. So, to emulate a famous cartoon villain, "Well, back to the old drawing board!"
