Hello All,
I wanted to write a quick review about the trigger job that Stuart did on my Stainless CZ-75B.
I got my Stainless not that long ago, I was pretty familiar with the behavior of the stock trigger system from my SP-01 Tac, so I knew that I was going to be getting the trigger modified sooner than later.
I had my SP-01 Tac trigger worked on by the CZ Custom shop and they did an excellent job. The SA trigger pull comes in just over 2 pounds on my RBCS trigger pull gauge. I thought it was a little too light but I have gotten more used to it.
The trigger job that Stuart did is awesome as well, one of the main reasons that I wanted to have Stuart do the trigger job was that I wanted to keep the Stainless trigger on my SS CZ. Stuart was able to use my existing trigger and give me a great trigger pull that comes in about 2.3(ish) pounds in SA.
It is a very crisp pull and it breaks like glass.
There are a couple of differences between the two improvements, now I can't speak for Stuart or the CZ Custom Shop if this is how they impliment the trigger jobs all of the time, but I will point out the differences that I noticed.
The CZ Custom shop trigger also breaks cleanly at just over 2 pounds. The trigger is very far back in its "stroke" and is pretty much being pulled all of the way back before the hammer hooks release. I also noticed that with the trigger in this position, the Firing Pin lifter is actuated and has moved the firing pin block out of the way. So I feel two areas of force on the trigger pull, they are almost imperceptable, the Trigger Return Spring, and then the Firing Pin Lifter mechanism when I am "sitting" on the hammer hooks. Again the primary difference is the position of the trigger prior to the trigger breaking. Excellent pull with very little overtravel since the trigger is already pretty close to the limit of its travel.
The trigger job that Stuart did is a little different from the CZ Custom, in terms of where the trigger is before the hammer releases. It is further forward in the trigger guard than the CZ Custom job. I also noticed that the trigger at this point does not yet actuated the Firing Pin Block. The trigger breaks very cleanly at 2.25 lbs. I think I am only feeling the resistance of the trigger return spring with no addition of the Firing Pin lifter mechanism. Because of this, I think Stuart's "feels" more crisp than the CZ Custom Shop. Both have great trigger pulls. Stuart's job does have more over travel than my SP-01, but the start position is more comfortable to me.
Again, both are great and show there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments. Hope this made sense.
