I get frustrated every time I shoot my P07
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:16:44 PM »
I went to the range today with my P07 Duty, CZ75B, and CZ Custom CZ 75SA.  The CZ 75B had a Cajun Gun Works trigger, and a 13 lb hammer spring.  The P07 Duty has a 15 lb hammer spring, a cut down recoil spring and a cut down firing pin spring. The sights are CZ Custom Fiber Optic.  Ob vinously the CZ Custom SA is the better shooting of the 3 , but I must say the P07 can hold it own.  The frustration is how can a pistol that is so cheap, with a little work shoot almost good as a pistol that costs twice as much.

I just can't believe it .

That P07 really is one of the best polymer pistols I have shot.  Don't get me wrong I will still keep my Glock 17, but the P07 is a great pistol, and it can be had for a great price.

I don't know why more people take a look at them.  They are as good as my Glock 17, and a lot better than the Springfield XD.

A agree with you Samned. I went to the range and put another 100 rounds through my P07 and always am impressed with its accuracy and smooth trigger. It's awesome.

my p07 is stock standard.  i am old school and believe the engineers at the firearms factory knows a lot more about their product than i do.  ;)

both my CZ's only gets better with age and use.   :)

I thought I just read a thread where you got a ss guide rod made for yours. Is that worth getting? I've owned a couple poly pistols and unless there's flex or bulge issues, poly is poly. I figure what separates a $400 from a $1,000 has a lot to do with brand but even more to do with what's inside the pistol. I can't do anything about the brand, but if I can buy a. $400 gun and change some of the guts out to make it shoot a little better... Hey, why not? I'm sure the engineers know more than me as well, however I'm also sure they were limited on what they could or would use on the p-07 to keep it in such a low price range. I haven't even shot mine yet. I'm just being proactive. Always looking for ways to improve.

I bought my parts online at CZ Custom.com.  I installed these after talking to one of their gunsmiths.
Here is a list

1 standard recoil spring with 2 coils cut off one end.
1 reduced power hammer spring 13 pounds
1 firing pin spring for CZ RAMI 2075 with 2 coils cut off
Very light polishing of all internal parts

The firing pin spring was replaced to help with light primer strikes due to reduced power hammer spring.
This setup works perfectly with my target loads that I shoot regularly. I would not recommend shooting +p loads with any recoil spring but the factory one.

When i bought mine from a board member a stainless guid rod came with the deal. I kept it in for a while, but decided to put the plastic  one back in. I did not notice any major differences in the two rods.

yes i had the rod made and after some use I saw wear on the ROD and decided that it could be the weight that causes it to vibrate when shooting. there was no damage to the pistol but i put the plastic rod back just to be safe.  i had the ss rod drilled through the centre to take some weight off.  i keep this ss rod in my range bag for a backup.

i have nothing against anyone trying to improve their firearms' performance and i am sure that there is a lot that can be done. i just prefer mine as close to original as possible.
