CZ100 and CZ40B

Well I bought the 40B last week and picked up the 100 this week.  For the price, they are an amazing handgun.   They don't quite compete with my HK Tactical on quality, but for the price I can buy four CZ's.  

Overall, the guns are excellent and I must say I enjoy the CZ100 more than the 40B.  The 40B does not seem to be quite as well built as the 100.

Very interesting reading on the forums.  Reading the messages on here, made me interested in buying the 100.

I think you'll find that the CZ-40B will grow on you.  

(It's not my favorite CZ -- that's the 85 Combat -- but I much prefer it to the CZ-100...)

I also have a 40 and a 100 in 9mm (and a 75B). I find the 40 to be more fun to shoot at the range if for no other reason than that it seems more accurate. Contrary to what some others have said I have found the trigger on the 100 to be perfectly acceptable. At first it sure was different dry firing it but when I actually shoot the gun I forget all about it. The accuracy with the 100 is quite good too for what I consider a purely defensive gun (it is my preferred carry pistol). I doubt I'll ever get rid of either one.

I have both and much prefer the 40B. The slight extra weight advantage seems to help with the shooting accuracy. As Walt says the 40B will grow on you. With me it was love at 1st sight. Great carry gun and almost as concealable as the 100.

I've not fired the 100 at the range yet, the 40B shot very nicely.  I have the 100 in .40 caliber.   I was looking for a small handgun, in case I ever move back into a CC state.  Silly Ohioans, you can drive a motorcycle without a helmet, but you cant CC.  

I was wondering about a few points on each of these handguns.  First on the 100, the magazine does not seem to sit flush with the bottom of the gun, is this just poor engineering or is my handgun slightly defective?  

Concerning the 40B, what market is this gun trying to attract?  I reminds me a lot of a 1911, but of course its in a .40 caliber.   Is CZ attempting to capitalize upon the popularity of the 1911 crowd, but introduce a smaller frame and caliber handgun to this market?

The CZ-40B was a joint marketing effort between CZ and Colt.  Colt was trying to reenter the US "police" market and sought to develop a gun suitable for that audience.

(Read: DAO only, no safeties, etc., double-stack mag to allow special LEO hi-caps, 1911 grip angle [?!], and moderate size.)

The CZ-40B is pure CZ-75B with a 1911 grip angle. The grip is much wider than a 1911, so only the angle is the same.  But some really like the angle.  The Colt was to be double-action only, and a few people who have posted here claim the Colt Z-40's double-action only trigger was superb.  

There was much said about Colt's engineering input, but it was apparently "limited" or "none."  Standard mags fit the gun, and all internals are virtually identical to the 75B line.  The slide is INSIDE the frame as with all other CZs, and the slides will even inter-change with the 75B line (but they won't function properly -- close, though.)

(The Colt Z-40s aren't being shot much, as they move directly to "collector" status -- less than a 1000 were made.)

The 40B is one of the best buys around.
