Hello all: Question
« on: November 17, 2006, 01:53:35 PM »
I'm new to your forum. Very informative and well put together. I'm a Browning High Power shooter and a fan of one of the best pistols ever. I'm going to buy my 25 year old a pistol for Christmas. I'm convinced a CZ 75 will hold up to"plus P" loads better than a BHP. He's in Alaska and needs to shoot more before he can't any longer. Question:9mm or .40 cal. I want him to have fun with the gun first and stop critters second. Not going to buy a .44 mag or any other large bore, just not that fun or economical to shoot. Those of you with experence w/these two cals., please let me know your preference. Thank you.

Hi fstdraw!
If he is new to shooting, I'd reccomend the 9mm.  Less recoil, cheaper ammo.

Recoil with the .40 in the CZ 75B is not really an issue.  I routinely start new shooters with both 9mm and .40 caliber training with  my CZ 75Bs.  Cheaper ammo, if that is a consideration, would be the only reason I would recommend the 9mm over the .40.
