new wood
« on: May 18, 2012, 09:29:23 PM »
Decided to try some different grips and got the Nill-Griffe Walnut Target Grips. Got them yesterday and the fit and finish is very nice. They look bigger than they are; not too much thicker than factory wood.  Feel nice but didn't get to the range yet; there is one little problem.

My 1 factory mag fits great, but my 2 brand spankin new never even been loaded MecGars have a different base and it is no bueno.

Meant to stop at CZCustom to see if they have factory bases but decided to see IF the mags work OK first.  Next step is SA conversion and maybe some spring changes.

That is a sweet looking design, although I'm not a target shooter and those stocks are too long for my taste. I hope you get the mag problem fixed.

I STILL have not gotten to the range. Decide to open up the mag well so it fits any other mags I get but just have to find some time......

Talked with CZ Custom and will get the SA conversion right after some new sights for the new Phantom.   Just have to wait for the money tree crop to ripen. If you pickm too soon all you get is 1s & 5s. I need 50s at least.

I am a big fan of this specific model of Nill grips, but the money tree blossoming season is yet to arrive...Any other retailers for these grips, other than Nill grips and their reps?

I got these at Numrich. Not sure if they had other CZ models.

You should be able to shave the mag bottoms and they'll slide right in, as they're only plastic. Just an idea... ;)

I looked at that but it doesn't leave a lot of plastic to hold the base plate on especially when you are slapping a fully compressed mag home.  Plus it leaves the same issue for any future mags.
