Going to age myself but our high school did offer a hunting safety class which I took. A local DNR officer gave the instruction and it involved actual live firing. My self and nearly all of my buddies all brought guns on the school property during hunting season.
I can remember our shop teacher coming out to the parking lot and looking over our shotguns for pheasant hunting. He would admonish those who didn't keep their gun cleaned.
Ahhh the good ol days... But I digress...
I can distinctly remember my first experience with guns which was that hunting safety class and it has carried with me all these years.
With that being said I don't think society today could handle this type of instruction in the school system.
The perception of guns in society is so different from when I was that 16 year old in high school.
The the contrast of what 40 years has brought about is quite astonishing.
Those of you in your 20's and 30's best be vigilant of your 2A rights and do not take it for granted.
Regardless of your opinion of the NRA join it if you don't already belong. They are the last bastion of defense for your right to own and carry.
