Vertical Grip
« on: October 02, 2012, 10:17:29 AM »
Thinking of putting a vertical grip on my lower handguards (Bonesteel & NEA). Any thoughts as to manufacture, standard lenght or short, with or without the bipod. Thanks
Love to play with fast women, sharp knives & loud guns, if the wife says it's okay....

I too had the same question.  Also, what are the pros/cons of having a vertical grip, over the normal horizontal grip?

I like my Magpul AFG, but before I had a vertical shorty grip. You have to make sure that it does not interfere with inserting the magazine. A short VG works nice, but a longer one will work, you just have to move it to the end of the rail to clear sometimes.

I had a Magpul RVG on my NEA handguard for a while. It didn't interfere with mag changes, but I took it off as it didn't offer any improvement, IMO.

Yeah, I have a Tapco Intrafuse shorty VFG, and I'm on the verge of ditching that for a Magpul AFG.  The AFG just seems like it would yield a more natural hand position, and be a lot less in the way.

Steve - Thanks for the info. I was thinking it might offer a better grip. Now I'm thinking twice about adding another item to a weapon that already works well (KISS). Maybe later down the road....

Well, anyone that has shot a couple of clips through their vz knows it gets pretty darn hot.  That to me is probably the best reason to have a vertical foregrip.

This is why I've thought about getting one myself.

I am using Magpul AFG2. Before I tried short vertical grip, but it interfered with 30 rd. mag changes and if placed to far forward was uncomfortable to hold.

Does the AFG help prevent the rails from transferring heat to your hand? I'm running a FAB very grip and it works just fine but want something smaller that also resists heat transfer
