Just got home with a new 512
« on: March 01, 2013, 04:37:01 PM »
As the title states, I'm now the happy owner of a 512 8).  Hope I can get to the indoor range tonight (25 yard max) or Sat morning to see how she shoots.  The monthly matches seem fun but I'll need to get a scope or just shoot open sight like usual.  Looking forward to the fun of my first rim fire rifle.

Where did you find the 512?  I tried to order one through Angus and was told that the 22 Mag version was either no longer being made or no longer being imported.  Bottom line was that they were unavailable.  I'd love to find one.  Is there another one out there?

The shop I got mine had another in .22lr and one in .22wmr.  That was Newington Gun Exchange in CT.  Not sure if they do internet sales.

great gun! I have a 452 in .17 HMR, 527 FS in .222 and just got the 512in .22mag. Ordered a Cabelas .22 mag scope for it,
Cabelas has some Hornady .22 mag in stock currently.

Anybody used the 512 on coyotes? I am a ranch broker in NM and Colo and thought it would make an excellent rifle for the Ranger and pickup ..

I finally landed a 512.  Now I am looking for magazines.  I thought the rifles were hard to come by, but the magazines are even harder!

Does CZ ever get magazines?  The website gives "unknown" as the expected date.

Congrats on the new rifle te1911. Did you buy the .22lr or.22 wmr? I'm also in ct and regularly check newington gun exchanges' shop for cz's. They've been real good to me and I prefer doing business with them over any other retailer. If you bought the wmr though, I saw last week, that cabelas has '22 wmr in stock. Still no .22lr though.

I got the .22lr, (my reserve is not out yet).  Real fun to shoot except the 6# trigger, and plastic charging handle.  Going to look into some polishing this weekend.

NGX I like, nice people, this was the first gun I purchased from them.  I've seen many good prices on used CZ's there!

It took some looking for but I found my 512 in 22LR at Damascus Gun Shop (online). It was their only one at the time. For magazines try Midway USA. They have 10 round mags for the 512/455 for $30 ea. The first 5 rounds I shot with it at 55 yds grouped about 1 3/4 inches right on the point of aim. I read online reviews and they absolutely hated the trigger but I didn't think it was too bad at all. CZ must have fixed it from earlier models because other than being a little stiff it was fine. In fact it put the trigger of my Browning BL22 to shame but not quite as good as my Remington Nylon 66 (don't laugh). About the only thing I don't like is it doesn't hold open the bolt after the last shot.  Feels solid, looks pretty and groups tight.
