I pose this question as I will soon get a carry license. I am looking for something that feels and shoots great like my cz-85 combat but with less bulk. I think these two are alone on the short list for the job.

So which one and why? If any other options let me know

I own both in 9mm.  They are so similar that the $100 cost and the feel in YOUR HAND should be your deciding factor.

The plastic P-07s trigger is the lighter Omega form and the P-07 has a very slightly smaller grip.  I like the framed sights too.  The P-07 has a light rail.

The PCR is metal, has a loaded chamber indicator and has no light rail.

Both pistols are more accurate than I can be.  Both eat any ammunition.  Both have been flawless in operation so far anyway.

I currnetly carry a PCR which I have owned for several years and have run around 4k rounds through without complaint.
I had a P-07 which had many reliabilty issues and was replaced with 2 different new guns by CZ USA. I commend CZ for standing behind the warranty of the gun but I never even shot the second replacement pistol they sent and sold it as new unfired. I know many have had great success with the P-07 but I got 2 in a row that where unreliable hence I lost all confidence in the design.
My personal and biased opinion is go with the PCR.

The PCR is tested and proven.  The P-07 is still a work in progress.  For a carry gun, reliability is paramount, so the choice is easy  (my humble opinion).

Didn't realize the issues involved with the p07. Maybe they will address them for the p09

  • Truth is the new hate speech.
The 75 Compact should handle and shoot more similarly to your 85 Combat than the PCR or P-07.

The Compact and Combat have a safety; the PCR has a decocker; you get to choose between a decocker or safety with the P-07.

The free recoil energy of the Compact is 8% higher than that of the Combat; those of the PCR and P-07 are about 28% higher.

As to reliability, just look at the first pages of the Compact, PCR, and P-07 clubs here:  no threads dedicated to griping about unreliability on the Compact and PCR first pages; three such threads on the P-07 page.
