Has anyone here had feeding issues with their 7.62x39 mags? I've found that due to the design, the rear of the follower is allowed to tilt down into the mag body. I can push it down in the back and it just stays there. This happens with both an unloaded mag and loaded. It's like it has no upward pressure in the back. Also there are no guides in the mag body to keep the follower straight. This frequently would cause a feeding issue. Basically before pushing the bolt forward, each time I would just need to press downward a bit on the front end of the round to make sure that the rear end was up against the feed lips.
In trying to find a solution, I've found that a 527 .223 mag spring (different design) seems to solve the problem. I know the mag bodies are different, but I've had that spring in the x39 mag for a while now and I have yet to have a problem.
I called CZ-USA about this and talked to a smith. He seemed skeptical that my .223 spring was working in the x39 mag, and wanted me to send the entire rifle in, saying he could get it feeding. Well I don't want to pay to send the whole rifle in. I was actually just calling them to find out if it was a known issue and to see if I could get another mag spring for their .223 mags.
Anyone else had this issue? Any other solutions?
