Startled to find weakened mag springs

Question about magazine springs. For the past year my P01 has been in a bedside lock-box. Up until then it had probably 500 trouble-free rounds through it. I took it to the range the other day and was shocked to find that it seems the mag springs have turned to jello! Both of my mags were loaded to their 14 round capacity in storage. I realize a spring under strain is going to fatigue in time, but I carried other autos in this condition for many years without any ever noticeably losing spring strength. Now I'm getting double-feeds and nose-dives regularly. Did I maybe catch a couple of springs that had a defect, or do I need to change my behavior?

If I order some +5 or +10 springs what can I expect in terms of service life if they are stored in a loaded mag?

ps - For clarification, the feeding problems are definitely the mag springs.  Their weakened condition is obvious loading/unloading a magazine by hand. Mags are clean and followers move freely.

Not sure there really is an answer to that, a lot of theories based on rotating magazines, springs taking a   set or not. I know the + springs help. Its a trail and error deal i think. We should all test our carry guns on a  regular basis. abut every 2 months I shoot out my carry mags and reload them with fresh ammo. The real test is if it work "right now"

Spring are often the cause of issues, get in a  routine of maintaining them and things will be better.
