BRNO ZKK 600 stock

Hello, I have a BRNO ZKK 600 (30-06) and would like to replace the stock. When looking for a new stock companies don't list the ZKK. Is a Mauser 98 the stock I should be looking for? Will the Mauser 98 stock fit the ZKK?

Try Wenig Custom Gunstocks Inc at (www.wenig.com). It was set up by Fred Wenig, former chief stockmaker at Fajen, when the family got out of the business. I have a suspicion that he purchased most of the old stock and patterns. If he does not have a pattern you could try to track down a Californian gunsmith called Lon Paul who has done work on Brno ZKK rifles.

If you want a fibreglass stock you might be able to get one off MPI Stocks (www.mpi.com). They were offering stocks for such exotic items as the Winchester 88 and Sako Finnwolf a good two decades ago and are probably your best bet in that direction.

Thanks for the info. Living in Canada I won't ship the rifle across the border to Wenig to have a custom stock made...too much money. I have the original stock in perfect condition I just find the rifle to be extremely heavy and was thinking of ordering a new lighter stock and having a gunsmith close by fit it to the BRNO. I thought I read somewhere that the ZKK was a Mauser 98. If I can't find a stock for it I think I'll just sell it and get something else for hunting, which is too bad seeing as I like the rifle otherwise.

1. If Wenig has a pattern he can make a semi-inletted stock and send it to you.
2. The ZKK was a new design by the Koucky brothers. Look at the way that the cocking piece is held down by the receiver at the moment of firing. The ZG47 is a sporting derivative of the M98 although with a different safety and clear differences underneath, such as Galas's Model 70 style magazine that was copied by the Kouckys.
3. I suspect that you need to talk with a local gunsmith to clarify what you want, and then contact the suppliers I have named if you still want to get a new stock.

your going to need a fairly decent stock for the 30-06, ive found good quality after market stocks are as heavy as the originals, with a fiberglass one you might gain a bit depending on the metal reinforcing. you could definatly take the route of a one  build, but  would it be worth it, need to weigh up the cost against any real weight savings, just my 2 cents worth.

I think your right, the cost of a quality stock vs weight loss. I think I'll stick with the original stock.
