Should the US Pull Out of Chicago?
« on: February 09, 2013, 06:38:15 PM »
Got this from a buddy in the Chicago area.

*****

Body count:  In 2012, 532 people were murdered in Chicago as compared to 402 US and allied soldiers killed in action Afghanistan.  Afghanistan is an active theater of war, while Chicago has one of the strictest set of gun laws in the entire US.

The leadership in Illinois ? all Democrats.  Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago.  Of course, they're all blaming each other.  Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.  Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

State pension fund $78 billion in debt, worst in country.  Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

Cook County sales tax is 10.25%, the highest in country.  Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.  And he is going to "fix" Washington politics for us?

George Ryan is no longer governor, he is in the big house.  Of course he was replaced by Rob Blagojevich who is ... that's right, also in the big house.  And US Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago.  That's because he is fighting being sent to ... right again, the big house!

The Land of Lincoln, where governors make our license plates!!!!

All very true, our state is its own worst enemy and unfortunately the disease has spread to the white house. I truly wish we could chisel Chicago off of our state and let it sink into lake Michigan.

I would surmise that the mayor of Chicago would be VERY happy to become an indpendant city-state, but would be unhappy to no longer be able to directly affect both state and national politics. Within a few years of becoming and independent slum town, they would be petitioning for the right to return, so someone else will pay all those welfare checks that they kept bouncing!
