Hi,

Could some one here offer me some advice on the Kadet (original not Kadet 2) and my Canadian Edition Shadow. Although my Shadow is not Custom Shadow (CZC) it is a custom build with a trigger job.

MY AIM

1) Use the Kadet with without having to change the main spring every time I want to switch between 9 mm and .22LR rounds at the range.

The main spring in the Shadow is a 11lb spring. I do not want to keep changing it ever time I want to switch between 9 mm & .22LR. I just want to swap the slide and recoil spring

I have done some reading about the Kadets. What is the "best" recoil spring to use with an 11lb main spring.

TIA.

Steve

Hey Steve:
A Recoil Spring has little to do with the Hammer / Main Spring in most functions
An 11lb Hammer Spring it very light and (unfortunately) you will experience a high percentage of Failure to Fire when used with a Kadet Upper
Some members have found that a 17lb Hammer Spring is about as light as it can go
Some have gotten away with 15lb
But 13lb has been found to be too light
In addition, if you?re using a lighter Hammer, this will increase your Failures
A lighter Firing Pin Spring would help?.if you can find one
Here is a Firing Spring Fix that ?could? help:

I took a little off of both sides of the Shoulder
More off of the back is better than off of the front
Also, a very high dollar 22 Round could help
Good luck in your quest
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Dang it! Why is it we always find out about these things after we purchase!

Oh well I have purchased the Kadet adapter now so it's all trial and error from here onwards.

I will not be changing out the main spring in my Canadian Edition (9 mm) Shadow, it's got too nice a set up for that.

As for firing .22LR "expensive" rounds, what would you suggest in terms of manufature and also type (subsonic, standard, hyper velocity, high velocity, ultra, FMJ, HPJ, & grain.

I'm thinking hyper (40 grain)due to the bills tic properties.

Thoughts on this please.

:)

You're looking for the kind of Round with sensitive Primer
The stuff the Pros / Athletes use in International Competition
Eley, Fiocchi or Aguila
Even some of the high end CCIs have sensitive Primers
Eley Tenex is on the top of that list
Hope this helps
