Tristar Detailed Disassembly (HELP!)
« on: September 02, 2013, 07:28:31 PM »
I've been successful enough at get down to removal of the sear assembly of my T-120 and C-100, but I'm at a loss when it comes to getting the hammer and trigger assemblies out.

Do any of you guys have Tristar specific pictorials or how-to's?

I've followed the CZ how to's to get as far as I've gotten, but once I get the sear cage out, it doesn't look exactly like the CZ pics I've seen... Though admittedly my eye is somewhat untrained.

I've gotten the T-120 trigger to a far better than I ever expected level for what I thought I would be able to do. The single action on the C-100 is coming along nicely too, but the DA is still a beast.

Thanks for the help!

I recently ordered spring kits from Cajun Gun Works.  I requested some links to help with the installation and David sent these to me.  I hope they help:

see my post from several months ago for detailed disassembly (it is posted in a pdf format with pictures--since the forum doesn't directly host pics, it was easier to just put it up in pdf:

RATS !!!!  Frame 7-8-9 shows the removal of the small pin that stakes the trigger pin to be removed simply by using a small magnet. I'm now in trouble. DOn't do as I did. I tapped lightly down with a punch and now it is locked in!!!  I could kick myself as I read somewhere a punch was needed. Just the opposite is the cure !.

If you have the frame stripped down and only the hammer and its pin are remaining you may still be OK. If you invert the frame and hold it by the dust cover and smack it on a piece of pine board, that little detent may just become dislodged from it's pocket. Normally after disassembly that little detent pin has a bad habit of becoming a runner and it's never even noticed that it's missing until the hammer pin keeps walking out. Learning often involves making mistakes. Don't give up.

Thanx for that WHitecap.  New in Box I noticed in S/A upon slowly squeezing trigger the hammer didn't drop crisply. It continued back for about 3/32" and then broke rather cleanly I might add but I didn't care for the travel so upon my first ever complete take apart I quickly discovered how the hammer hooks interface with the sear. Hammer hook angle and height of hammer hook to apex of the hammer hook seemed to high thus making the hammer continue to travel backwards before break. I diamond filed the hooks in place with only hammer in the lower as I couldn't get that darn pin out to remove the hammer. Went very slow and just filed the apex of the hooks in place. Reassembled, off to local range and saw an improvement but still in need of more material removed from the hammer hook apex. Can't add material so slow I go,..test and digest.

Off now to put the lower in a zip lock bag and the board you suggest. Also have hammer with leather & may try that on the butt. Yup,..mistakes make for learning the hard way. That said, the T120 was about $350. and I bought it with the intent of tear down , inspect, reflect. Wouldn't dare at this point in time tear into H&K or Sigs or S&W 30 year old #41 as it ticks like an atomic clock so I practice on a Timex pistol ( T120).
Thanx for the rsvp. I'll post when success is made.
