CZ P-01 firing pin not contacting primer on occasion
« on: May 25, 2013, 10:34:58 AM »
I have a CZ P-01 that I have a love/hate relationship with. I love the feel and accuracy of the gun,
but 2 to 3 times per range trip (approx. 100-150 rounds fired) it will just go click when the hammer falls.
When I eject the bullet, there is NO firing pin mark at all on the primer. When the bullet is re-inserted in the mag,
it will fire the next time (every time). This happens with all types of quality factory ammo, so I don't think
its a hard primer issue. The only mod I've made to the gun is a new extended firing pin, which didn't fix
the problem. I love this gun, PLEASE help me fix it! Any suggestions??

Are you referring to the firing pin block? If so, how can you tell? If you eject the round, the
next shot will fire just fine.

Firing pin spring is probably broken in half.

On occasion the spring (two halves) would not push the pin back far enough and when hammer falls, it barely makes any contact with firing pin, effectively not launching it forward.

I took everything apart after a range trip on Thursday evening and the firing pin spring is good.
I was having this problem with the stock firing pin, so I replaced it with a new extended firing pin
from CZ. Instead of using a reduced pressure FP spring, I went back with the stock spring.

I took the firing pin block out of the gun for a trip to the range on Saturday.
I fired 150 rds through the gun with zero issues, so it looks like the FPB is the problem.
What do I need to do to make the P-01 function (all the time) with the FPB in the gun,
or should I leave it out all together? Thanks guys. I appreciate your advice on this.

sounds like it just needs a little more clearance between the block notch and the notch in the firing pin. like it is not being lifted high enough to clear the pin.

I would not remove the block on a decocker gun.
