Used 30-06 550 American $899 @ Cabela's in Buda TX

Very clean "used" 550 @ Cabela's today for $899.00. Rings but no scope according to clerk. Doesn't look like it has more than 10 rounds fired through it. No other CZ's in stock.

There are brand new 550's in stock at Sportsman's Ski Haus here in Kalispell, MT (including a .30-06, a .270, and a .22-250, last time I was in there) for $779.
I don't know how Cabela's figures a used one is worth more than MSRP, unless it's a consignment with a very proud owner.

My advice is to shop around.

Not unusual for Cabela's in my experience, they are proud of their rifles. They did have a sale on ammo, 7.62X39 was $5.99 a box for Herters which is why I went there. They were sold out of 22 LR, again. Most other calibers in stock.

I agree.

They saw a used Sig pistol this morning (Boise) in their Gun Library tahat had a higher price than a new one at the counter.

I am not an expert. Maybe Cabela's has magical elixers that make a used rifle worth more than another, but I found a 550 in .270 on armslist for $650 (look in Minnesota) or trade for Ruger Single Ten. Says only a hand full of rounds through it, balance of two boxes go with it. If I didn't have estimated quarterlies coming up in a few weeks....  it'd be mine.

Check around, they're out there. If you have more money than time, Cabela's may suit you, but you can buy lots of ammo for $249!

In Hamburg that had a S&W M&P pistol NIB for $40 more than the used one.  Who would buy the used one to save $40????

They also had a used CZ 550 in .30-06 at the Hamburg, PA Cabelas, last Thursday (8/29). I believe it was scoped, but for the life of me I can't remember the price. I don't think it was $899, though.
