TA90 extractor
« on: October 14, 2013, 04:17:33 PM »
I had my TA90 out again today.  I only had Win. White box ammo with me.  I had 2 failures to eject. One time the empty shell was still in the chamber, one time it was only pulled out about half way.  I had a S&W with me, shooting the same ammo, and never had any trouble with it.  Both shells showed a scratch on the rim, like the extractor contacted it, but didn't pull it out. This was just 2 rounds out of 50 I put through it, so not a constant problem.
The extractor looks clean and undamaged.  This is the first time it's happened.  If it's the extractor, what extractor do I look for to replace it?  It's a series 88 model, safety on the frame, not the slide.  Witness, CZ, other Tanfoglio models?

Consider some of the Modifications in this thread: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=30669.0

You may just have a weak Extractor Spring.  EAA may have an older Extractor on hand.  You can use a Cz75 Extractor, but you have to drill out the Retention Pin Hole to the next size up.
My Full Size Series 88 TA90 wears a Pre-B Cz75 Extractor, as there was no "B" Series Cz75's at the time.  The current Cz75B Extractor should still work.

Current EA Series Witness Extractors are slightly different, being a bit shorter in blade and won't work.

Wolff springs sells an extractor spring for your pistol for around 4 bucks.
