After you slug your bbl, you "may" know what can improve the groups.
After you shoot some .356" bullets, you'll know if the groups improve.
Berry's offers sample packs fairly cheap.   Other companies may do the same--you can ask them.  I already loaded and shot the 147s and most of mine or I'd send you some.   Easy for me to "say". ::)

I know four other competitors that shoot the Shadows or SPO1s using .355 bullets successfully---range talk.  Add my 3 and others here on the forum, and I'll make you a wager.

10 of my Berry's HBRN bullets against 10 of your new plated bullets , that when you do find the cause,  it's not the "bullet diameters" themselves causing the random groups.  Warning Odds are in my favor.

I think im going to go and try some bayous as those are .356.

Im still in the process of "finding my bullet" so to speak.  The MG 124 JHP rounds were held in high regard but if they dont work out of the shadow, ie my uspsa gun then they're no good to me.

I would highly recommend to slug your barrels prior to ordering lead. Some onthis forum use lead .002 larger in thier bullet size.

This is the strangest forum in the known universe...

Everyone is SO willing to help around here lol!

Thanks for the offers guys but no need.  I have some slugs inbound and i will take the advice and do that prior to working up anymore loads to see where i stand as far as the potential barrel differences.

Maybe you've tried this but I haven't seen it posted so I'll make the suggestion anyway.

You said the Shadow has an adjustable rear sight. Check to see if it is loose at all.

I saw this happen once and it drove us crazy until we checked. It had never crossed our mind that it could be, but sure enough it was loose. Made perfect sense that it wouldn't group if the rear sight could move, and once we tightened it, the gun shot to POA.

Actually...that is the one thing i didnt check.

My witness marks were in their standard place but i didnt actually apply any finger pressure to see if it would move.

Ill check in the morning and go from there.  Thanks for the advice! :)

Magsz,

As others have stated, slug your barrel.  It's not that difficult to do, just brace the chamber end on a soft wooden block, start a #9 lead egg sinker (found at all fishing stores I've been to) in the muzzle, using a wooden dowel a bit smaller than .355", drive the "slug" through the barrel.  It moves quite smoothly after its started and does not require a lot of force with the hammer  (kinetic bullet pullers excluded).  Then find someone with a micrometer to measure across the widest diameter.  This guy does it his way, but you will get the idea:

Then you'll have a much clearer idea of what size bullet to buy.
