This is another reason that I give for why I carry, wild or loose dangerous animals. I've been seeing a lot of pit bulls around my area lately, and I feel much better having my CZ-83 on me. I won't hesitate to shoot some stray dog that looked about ready to have me for lunch, or that was mauling someone else.

Chances are we would need our guns in this type of scenario more so then against human attackers, especially in rural areas.

a note about a different kind of animal that is far more dangerous: a highschooler ambushed 3 other students after school with a firearm. The 3 students were hit but survived their injuries. The attacker was 16, was a fool who had his life ahead of him, and is going away for a very VERY long time.
I'm not sympathetic to it, just hate seeing wasted potential. Well and it was 4 blocks from my house.
Didn't mean to derail the convo, I always carry my 1911 on me. My holster keeps it close to the body for easy concealment.
Remington R1 Enhanced, Chiappa Rhino 200DS, Sarsilmaz K2 45.
