I'll be sending in my 97b to Schmeky come tax return. He will be doing his complete 97b job on the gun including the 1911 barrel bushing. I really like the look of the all stainless front end of the ACCU shadow and will be having this done to my SP-01. But for the price, you can't beat what CGW does with the 97's. anyways, I purchased the full length stainless guide rod that Steve Bedair offers, and thought it would look cleaner if there was a stainless reverse plug as well. Anyways, all feedback will be greatly appreciated.

So I'm a gluten for punishment. Ordered the Bedair full length stainless guide rod, and Rob got back to me and I can purchase the stainless reverse plug to try. Wonder if it'll work out. I'll keep you guys updated. I'll get some before and after pics so you can check it out.

Steve Bedair said he will probably look into doing this, went ahead and ordered my full length guide rod while i was at it. Especially since the CzC one is designed for use with the ACCU bushing set. It's $25 for the plug if you contact Rob or Stuart. Otherwise it's $250 for CZC to ACCUrize the 97 vs $190 at CGW. I'm going to check with Schmeky and see if he's willing to try it and see if the plug will work, or of he can make it work. Won't be able to update you on that till at least February. Gotta catch up from just buying two P09's.

Update, Schmeky replied saying he would not be willing to modify the way he makes the 1911 bushing work. Makes since because it's been proven to be accurate the way it is. Waiting on the response now from Rob to find out if their stainless reverse plug is an OE replacement piece or a one off design to specifically work with the ACCU bushing set up. Worse case scenario it'll cost me $25 to find out, but that wont be until i get my tax return. The big thing here is the $ and if there's a perk from the fine pitch thread that CZC uses versus the quarter turn 1911 bushing.

Cost for CZC ACCUrized 97 is $250 ($725 if you do the competition hammer and trigger job as well)
Cost for CGW 1911 bushing is $190 ($650 for everything above plus reach reduction)

Can anyone offer any feedback or advice towards pros and cons of fine pitch barrel bushing vs 1911 quarter turn, and if you guys think one could be any more accurate then the other?

I'll update you when Rob gets back to me if this is either a production duplicate piece that should just drop in or not.

I can't specifically answer your question about the difference between the CZC threaded bushing versus the CGW 1911 style bushing.  I am sure they both work great.  I have several custom pieces from both shops and find them to be absolutely top drawer.  But I do own a 97 BE from CGW and I can tell you that the work Dave did on this piece is masterful.  The machining of the slide is perfect for fitting the bushing.  When it was new, the bushing was tight and it took some gently nudging with a plastic hammer to remove.   Now that the piece is broken in, the bushing is easier to remove.  It has always been my most accurate semi auto.  I have a very old Kimber gold match that I don't shoot anymore.  The 97 is scary accurate.  When I make a good hold and trigger break, it literally hits a point on the target.  I can't say enough good things about it.

Well I wanted to get ahold of a 97bd as well, I'd be tempted to have one done up by CGW (likely the 97b I have now). Then have CZC do the same or equivalent on the 97bd and compare te two. CGW has my SP-01 tactical now and did my wife's 75bd earlier this year so I'm already thrilled with his product and workmanship. Plus him and Stuart always answer all the crazy questions I've got. Still starting out, but if this is anything like when I ran paintball tournaments, I'm good learning and improving on what I've got. And when I make changes after I've gotten used to everything I have problems and a real slow learning curve. So I have been asking a stupid amount of questions up front and basically the guns going to CGW will be considered enhanced or limited with everything I'm doing to them. The ones I'm sending to CZC will be production legal pieces. So for now, I'm just shooting for fun with the wife. But the long term goal is to get into either IDPA or USPSA or both. I want to be fully accustomed to what I'll be shooting with and had them set up the way I want th from the very beginning. Cost a little more up front but for me it's worth it. So if Stuart ever ends up with a 97bd I'll be jumping on it for sure. I'll just have to at least wait until tax return to catch up from the P09's I just bought. Those could potentially be good competition shooters as well.

Update, CZC stainless reverse plug is a one off piece designed to work with the ACCU bushing. And since Schmeky isn't willing to modify the set up I guess it kills that idea. Can't say I didn't try.
