Hi! New to the forums and CZ-USA Shotguns
« on: December 23, 2013, 11:47:52 PM »
Hi I have recently become the proud owner of a CZ-USA 12-25 Redhead.  This is my second double, having sold my previous Stoeger STF 3000 Uplander Side-By-Side to subsidize the Redhead.  The Stoeger was a decent gun for me and I killed alot of pheasant and grouse with it.  I just came to find that the SxS form factor didn't really suit me so after borrowing my brothers Franchi for a hunt I decided to jump to the O/U form factor.  My first pheasant hunt (reserve) with the Redhead is this Friday and I can't wait to get it out in the field.

Since taking pssesion I have cleaned both the inside and outside of the barrel, removed cleaned and oiled the factory installed chokes, cleaned the receiver inside and out, and lubed the hinge of the action and ejectors.

I am a little preturbed at the difficulty in working the top lever, sometimes I have to use two hands to get the thing over to the right.  After sitting in front off the TV and working it open 100 times a night, it seems to be working in, though it also seems to stick tight randomly at times.  Hopefully experienced owners will tell e ths is normal expected behavior.

I plan to take it out and pattern it tomorrow or 12/26, after which I'll go through the same maintenance routine described above again.  The gun will be primarily used as a field gun, as my only experience with clays has been in learning how to shoot when I was younger, and in turn teaching my son to shoot.  If any forum members have any Readhead specific maintenance or usage advice they'd like to share I'd surely appreciate.

Thanks,
Pat
