Trigger group toggle rivet - where to find
« on: February 16, 2014, 09:27:29 PM »
HI, I'm in the process of starting a build of a VZ58.  Looking through the parts kit, I have the trigger group toggle with the old rivet still in it with the outer end cut off.  Where can I find this rivet?  I haven't seen it at Czech-point, VZ58-Rifle, Bonesteel are any of the other sites that carry VZ58 parts.  Is there a standard rivet I can substitute?

Thanks in advance for any help thrown my way.

Pictures go a long way.  Are you talking about the safety?  The trigger guard is the only thing in the area that I can think of offhand that's riveted.

Picture with the piece circled.  The small cir-clips many people use, I think, are taking the place of this piece.  I would like to keep it original so I don't have to keep track of the tiny clips.

Any help in sourcing the rivet to attach this bar would be greatly appreciated.

If Im not mistaking that is a full auto part and is likely unavailable for import. Also illegal to have installed. It is not needed for any semi auto rifle.

All it does is lock the trigger pin in.  It does not interact with the feather or sear in the full auto portion of the trigger.  It was included in my parts kit with the rivet head still in the bar but cut off short.  AFIK, only the long arm of the trigger group and the sear associated with that side are what allow full auto.  In the video you can see the bar in question pass by the side of the long arm when he pushes it down.  The original video http://youtu.be/oQMh85CnCZE
goes on to show how the safety lever allows the full auto sear to be released (at ~6:29) and how the long arm releases the sear when the bolt carrier slams home (~10:30).

The video below is of trigger removal from a semi-auto gun that still has this bar intact.

I've not seen this particular rivet at VZ58rifle, corwin-arms, checkpoint-usa or any of the many other VZ58 sites.

You're correct that it retains the pins. It has nothing to do with select fire whatsoever.
If you purchase US fire group to comply with part nine whatever... I  forget the number... Anyhow, you will find that the US fire group is retained with circlips. I think some people also refer to these as E clips.

VZ58rifle.com sells a full auto trigger kit.  But that's the only place I've seen those still used.

Everyone else is using E clips for trigger and sear pins.

Thanks for the info.  I'm going to keep poking around to see if I can find a rivet that measures the same as the one in the toggle bar I have.  I'll post back here when I've found it and put it into the receiver.  Likely won't be till next month after I get my receiver.  I can't wait to get it all put together so I can shoot it.   :P :P :P

I have access to a press and should be able to handle it myself.  I'll just take it slow and easy to make sure nothing goes sideways during pressing.  :)

Sounds good. Good luck and post pics when you're done.
