jrczP09--The really cruddy gun in that post was a 75B frame with a Kadet slide. The first photo was this P-09 before I took it apart to smooth the edge of the factory sear a little. I've had the sear out a dozen times since that photograph so it is actually pretty clean. I think I have around 4700 rounds through the gun now. I've run a few patches through the barrel and cleaned the rail and barrel ramp but don't fret over the frame/trigger parts. I make sure they aren't dry and that is it.
My point is that the parts tend to keep the contact parts wiped each cycle and what builds up on the non-contacting parts doesn't matter anyway, it just looks bad. The 75B with the Kadet parts gets mucked up in a hundred rounds. Keeping it clean is simply futile. I threatened to clean it around Christmas time, but I got the Ruger so I haven't shot the Kadet much, so it still hasn't been cleaned.
Now the Ruger is a different story. The bolt has a lot of contact area and the blow back residue definitely will slow down the slide. I have to clean the bolt and contact surfaces on it very regularly or the gun won't cycle. But not the trigger parts.
