Gun Break in
« on: April 10, 2014, 09:43:13 AM »
I have now been to range twice with the new 527 Varmint in 204 Ruger.

42 rounds the first trip
40 rounds the second

Here is picture of round # 16 - 20 (5 shot group for those weak in math)

Yesterday, 4 of the 8 5 shot groups were touching.  I was testing 40 grn'ers since I have read some will shoot some wont.

Well, with 27gn of 8208, I had four in a single, enlarged hole, and then was watching a bleep big ol wood borer type bee at my hand, when I foolishly pulled the trigger, fouling that group up.

I do not like zealots, and do not want to turn in to one, but I am utterly mystified why EVERYONE does not get this rifle if they want to shoot at paper.  Everyone!

You are right, that rifle shoots really, well, behind an experienced shooter, at least.  I would love to try a 204 Ruger.  What I have now is .308 Savage and .223 AR-15 and that is it.

My favorite rifle is the 527 in 204. I have a picture of a three shot clover leaf at 100 meters. I also have a 452 in 17hmr that will clover leaf on a perfectly still day. I received my 75B from my ffl yesterday and fired it today at the range, a birthday gift for this 74 year old. It is raining today, so I reloaded 400 9mm. Life is good.

That is sweet shooting, sir! The 527 is a fantastic rifle, and I won't part with mine. :)
