CZ82 Slinging Brass All Over
« on: August 03, 2014, 07:06:22 PM »
My CZ82 ejects cases about 30 ft with any ammo.  I did get a spring kit with a heavier (16lb) recoil spring but it didn't seem to help this particular problem.

Any of you guys had this problem?  It's not that I mind chasing brass (although that's no fun) but I hate slinging hot metal all over the 6 tables to my right at the range.

I do not really know just how far my CZ82's throw the empty cases.  I hardly ever am able to find any.  Since they are almost exclusively Berdan-primed steel cases I only pick them up when they are easy to see while policing my area after a day at the range.

Although it is off topic, I can report that both my CZ52 and my Yugo M57 toss the 7.62x25mm Tokarev empties just short of the county line.

Both of mine fling the empties about 30 ft, even with heavier springs. At the range, I just try to get the spot furthest to the right. ;)

Ok, this sounds like a common thing so I just need to work around it.  Thanks.

My cz 83 usually tosses hot brass down the shirt of the person shooting next to me [emoji1]
I'm afraid that throwing brass miles away is just what they do

I've never taken a tape measure to the range with me, so I couldn't say just how far they go. Most of the ones which miss my forehead do seem to go pretty far, though.

Miss your forehead? How does that work. Does it fling the shells back at you?

My CZ-82 cases brought down a satellite once.

Once in a while. It depends on what mood it's in.   ;D

A 16 # spring made mine better but it still launches them a good 20 feet.
And yes they sometimes come back straight at me as well. Still worth it. ;D
I have a CZ and some other guns.
I really want to have more. That's not a bad thing.

Look on the bright side.  In a self-defense situation, you don't have to worry about anybody sneaking up on your right.

Being the first pistol I ever owned or shot, my CZ 83 made me think it was normal to throw brass a country mile - until I saw people shooting 45's that politely dropped spent cases almost at their feet.  Now I look at my CZ's ejection habits as one of its endearing quirks.

Heh.  My CZ82 once chuck a hot shell down the front of my wife's sweater at 20 feet.  Now that was a fine shot!!!
