Here's the latest on the recall of gp pistols,  purchased mine from jg sales gave them a call couple minutes ago In regards to this, the lady rep got specifics from century that all gp pistols need to be sent back :( really like these pistols hope century does good on their part

Please call Century directly. I fear she may have confused two items.

Any unsold stock in the affected range is to be returned for barrel replacement.
Guns already sold in the affected range are to be returned for barrel replacement.

This is not a total recall.

I updated my original post to correct an apparent error. The document I got may have had the serial number ranges for the K100 and P1 reversed.

The new barrels are already at Century Arms, so turn around time should be quick.

Attempted to call century....no answer, decided to call jg sales instead thinking they might have the latest update since they also sell the gp.  Thanks for the heads up

Any follow up comments/thoughts on this?  How'd the recall go?

Can't speak for others' experiences but this went well in spite of the inconvenience of a recall. Contacted the number given on the letter; spoke with one of the designated Century contacts (Anne) who set up the mailing with the LGS as the most convenient way to do it. Took it in and had it back in about 3 weeks. Communication with Anne was great. It shoots just as well and nicely with the new barrel (no longer serial no. stamped) as before.

Good to hear!

I've just bought three GP from Cheaper Than Dirt - could not resist the price.
Yikes - all of them had serial numbers in the recall range.  :(
Contacted CAI and by serial number they found out they were already upgraded with a new barrel.  :)
They also told me the new barrels have no serial number, the bad ones do.
I'd like to share this info as it's easy to get worried if you just bought a brand new Grand Power and see it has a serial number in the recall range.

Thanks for that info, Bernie.

I just received a P1 from Bud's. $340 (actually listed at $345, but I managed to get a whopping five bucks off with the 'make an offer' button). A couple days after I ordered, they raised the price on the website to $425. I was optimistic enough about these guns that I went ahead and ordered another from FirearmsForSale.com, who had one left in stock for $355.

Which means the last option for these is probably JG. Last I checked, the P1 is $400 and the K100 is $430. Still a freaking steal. I don't think they're importing any more of the Mk7 models. The next guns from GP should be a much wider line, to include the X-Calibur. They may or may not come in through Century- I think they've been looking for a new importer.

Anyway, point being, I'm wagering that they're going to get more expensive. In case anyone doesn't know, the Mk6 guns came in through STI as the GP5/GP6 and I believe they ran in the $600-700 range. It's baffling that these really aren't selling at all. The P1 I have in my possession (still waiting on the other) has a serial number under 200, with a 2012 import date on the box.

But the good news...nothing written on the barrel! Which hopefully does indeed mean that it has the replacement barrel installed. I guess I could contact Century and have them check the serial number to be sure, but I have a feeling their customer service will be beyond useless.

Oh, and one more thing...the talk about this not being a 'complete' recall...I really wonder if that's true. Is it possible that 1,000 K100's and 600 P1's could comprise all of the Grand Powers imported into the US by Century? Does anyone here have a gun WITHOUT an affected serial number?

I have a gp serial#20x which was also on the barrel purchased in 2012, sent in for barrel change....and came back with no serial number on barrel.  So if you have a gp with no serial number chances are they replaced the barrel.   Definately want to get the p1...but just ordered a dan wesson heritage.

Got my other P1 in. Also in recall range, and also appears to have been done.

First gun had a ship date of September 2012 on the box, number 199. This one is February 2013, number 464. On a random note...why are people afraid of others seeing the serial number? We all know 3k-00xxx is the format and is at least good to 600. Do what mine with you will, I doubt anyone can accomplish anything that will affect me...

Anyhow, I just thought it was worth noting that these left the factory (I guess?) six months apart but are only ~250 serials apart. Serial numbers are worldwide, right?

The newer gun has quite a few little differences, too. Different coating on the rear sight and maybe some other small parts. Looks like a different mag supplier...followers red instead of black, and overall just a mildly different design. The Century Arms logo on the slide looks painted instead of engraved...maybe they wanted to make it able to be removed?

Function is identical, though. Which is to say: excellent.
