The 97B barrel bushing - How tight?

I just picked up a 97B today, and was doing a field strip of it and noticed that the bushing had some play to it - it wasn't screwed in tight.  It wasn't going anywhere because the recoil spring housing was keeping it from rotating to far.  I can tighten the bushing further so that it is nice and tight but I don't want to over tighten it.

How tight is the bushing supposed to be?  Should there be a little play, or should it be tight and solid. My gut tells me "tight and solid" but I wanted to get the feedback of those who have more experience with the 97B.  ...So far my experience with CZs is with the 75s and 85s.

A little play is normal. CZ even mentions that in the 97 owner's manual: http://cz-usa.com/support/downloads/. If you were to tighten as much as possible, the bushing would interfere with the recoil spring plug.

The screw in 97 barrel bushing is designed to be loose.  Over tighten it and the flange will break.  DO NOT try to make it run tight, or  chances are you may have problems.

When I first got my 97BD, I had a barrel bushing rotate and get mangled by the recoil spring plug during a range trip.  I called CZ and they sent out a new barrel bushing free of charge.  You definitely want to make sure when you assemble the barrel and slide that the recoil spring plug is fully engaged in the barrel bushing (fully protruding from the slide).  This doesn't happen on my gun when the bushing is tight, its about an 1/8 of a turn loose from finger tight.

I don't run any lube on the threads and haven't had any issues yet.  I also clean my guns too frequently though.

Thanks, guys.  Much appreciated.  I haven't had the chance to take it to the range yet (dying to though!).  I've since loosened the bushing to the factory position.

I disassembled and cleaned mine....still have not had a chance to fire it.  From the way mine was assembled and test fired, the bushing is really just finger tightened, then backed off enough to align the first notch with the recoil spring housing.  Is that correct?.....from the way mine came, I did not even need the bushing wrench.
