SP-01 spring rate
« on: September 02, 2007, 12:03:11 PM »
Can someone tell me what the stock recoil spring rate of the SP-01 is? I shoot 147gr poly coated cast lead at a power factor of 142. Brass is ejected about 3 feet to the right. Seems as though the spring rate may be a bit high and I am going to replace the spring with a wire wound to help get the weight down to be acceptable for IDPA.

Stock flatwound recoil spring is about 18 lbs.  Many shooters go with an 11 lb recoil spring for minor loads in competition.  If you go much lower than this, the slide may not close reliably.
