Firing pin retaining pin question.
« on: April 22, 2018, 03:29:00 PM »
So while installing the Cajun firing pin in my p09 I got nervous and ruined the retaining pin that shipped with the kit. Don?t ask it was stupid.  So I just put in the stock retaining pin.  I see places that say you have to use theirs.  But mine shoots fine? Why would the stock be bad at all or hurt anything if CZ used them in the first place??

Some of the stock ones hold up well, others don't.  Dry firing can damage the stock pin.  In my P-09, the pin showed signs of peening.  In my P-07, the stock pin looked fine but I replaced it anyway and kept the stock one for a spare.
If your stock pin looked undamaged, it should be fine until you can get a replacement.  Just make sure you installed it with the split in the pin facing up (12 o'clock) when you are holding the gun in the shooting position.
Did your stock pin have any visible damage?

Not that I noticed, but I will be honest I am sure I did not even inspect it.   I just ordered a new one for peace of mind.

You want the GW pin. Not the stock pin. Trust me.

It will work, but order the CGW pin.
