Sometimes I wish I had kept my PCR. It was such a nice pistol but I wasn't happy with the trigger right out of the box.

I'd like to have sent it to one of the custom shops to do some work, but I wasn't willing to put money into it.

simply a $7 lighter mainspring could have changed your mind!

I have done a lot of mods on my CZ pistols, with parts from CGW.  CGW and David are great to work with.  If I had to choose the absolute minimum mods, my favorite mod would be their Race Hammer.  This is for single action trigger pull, which is what you mostly shoot.  It is a major change, but may be difficult to do yourself. If I was sending my gun or gun frame to CGW, this would definitely be included.  Probably I would also get a new trigger spring and trigger spring retaining pin installed also, since they are cheap and the hammer has to be removed to access them so they are easy to install during the process of removing and replacing the hammer.

There's a lot of good info on smoothing out CZs at these links that I've bookmarked:

Some info on decockers.  I'm not handy enough for this stuff, so I got a very nicely polished and comp hammer model from CZC!

I'm in the same boat as the OP - trying to decide just what level of customization makes sense for me.

As to what I'd suggest adding early - for me it would be the sights. I can't get a good sight picture with the standard Pcr sights - there's too much reflection around the rear sight and it doesn't show enough light around the sight picture of the front sight. For a carry piece, I'd take CGW advice and get the Meprolight night sights. (Personally, I don't particularly care about the "night" capability, but I do care about the "carry" capability.)

I have most of the cgw modifications in CZ COMPACT/D  PCR.
The F/O sights with competition rear sights EZ/9/40 made the most difference to me.
Also new grips for my wife's hand size. Her gun, she likes the feel and look better.
Cant go wrong with czc or cgw. I've used both with great results.

JMHO:  moderately lighter springs and an improved  hammer will give the biggest 'bang' for the buck without limiting your ammo choices.   These are not hard to do at home.  If later you want more changes,  you've lost nothing.
