Waiting for a PCR - update
« on: September 01, 2014, 02:21:00 PM »
Thought I'd bring you guys up to date.  Picked up my new PCR yesterday !!  Happy day indeed.  The shop was again  professional and again apologized for the delays.

After examining at home, just some observations and questions for this group.

Both mags are the "solid steel base" type, not the rubber base.  Is that the regular delivered from factory mag?

I was expecting the slide to be stamped PCR, but it simply says 75D Compact.  Is that a change or did I just remember it wrong?  Looking at the website, it seems the only external distinguishing feature between the regular compact and the PCR is the additional slide serrations on the front of the slide.  Anything else?

Serial number is B556xxx.  Is this a 2014 year production unit?

I'll be headed to the range this weekend, after a complete clean and lube of course.

Mal

Just a little impatient, I guess.  I've had a PCR "on order" from my local dealer since early April this year.  Every time I go in there he says ....... "still nothing from my distributors".  He tells me his distributors have his list of "wants" and he checks with them weekly.  Obviously, I can't verify that. So is he just blowing me off or is there really nothing coming in?  I don't know what distributors he's using but I definitely see them for sale online !!  I was under the impression that they were hard to get .... but now I'm beginning to really wonder.

Still waiting ........ Mal

Buy one elsewhere and cancel your order.

Kentucky Gun Company has them in warehouse status. That usually means the item will arrive art their shipping department within a few days. If the distributors are out of an item, they show it as out of stock. If they have it in their inventory, it s status in the online store is in stock. You can pretty much count on the info you see on the site. PM'd you.
Although I once owned a couple, I don't really have a SIGnature.

Have you placed a down payment?

If not, cancel it like Viking499 said.

Buds, Damascus, GrabAGun, and KY Gun Co all have them under $545.

There are a lot of them available at best prices in a while look here

http://www.gunwatcher.com/Search/cz-75-pcr-for-sale

I think now that there is a new Sig p320 and a HK VP9 the demand for the PCR is going down.

I think this is because both these new guns come out of the box with amazing 5lb triggers, short crisp smooth take up and break and short reset.
These guns sell in the mid $500 range, are light, have tuff Tenifer finish, and the Sig even comes standard with tritium night sights.

The days of having to buy a pistol and sink another $200 to "perfect" the standard trigger and an extra hundred for tritium night sights, and another hundred for a tuff Tenifer finish are going away.

I hope CZ comes out like Sig did with their PCR with a striker fire, night sights and Tenifer finish.

Thanks for the comments and leads, guys.  Unfortunately, I'm locked into this particular dealer as a result of winning a raffle prize, stated as winning the prize or taking cash value (not the cash unfortunately) and using it on anything else.  So far, that hasn't worked out.  The prize was a rifle that I just didn't want (yeah I know .... shoulda, woulda, coulda).  I'll mentioned the distributors mentioned above when I go in AGAIN tomorrow !!

If he owes you money, ask him to order from another retailer.  Don't know how much he owes you, but I would bet he could find you a gun if he wanted to.  Tell him you will pay the difference between what he owes you and what KYGUN or someone else has it listed for........

Ask him what wholesales he uses.  If he doesn't want to tell you, then he is not looking out for his customer.

Has he mentioned to you about buying something off his shelf instead of him ordering you something?  I would almost bet he is trying to wait you out........most retailers make more money on something they already have on their shelf than if they have to order something for a customer.

Update:  As mentioned, I went back in yesterday .... trying my best to be kind, but apparently my frustration was showing.  Spoke with the smith this time (not the counter guy), who is a long standing acquaintance and a genuine nice guy.  I made the same request as before ... and received the same reply.  When I expressed that I found 4 online on Monday and asked what was going on, more details came forward.  He has two primary distributors that he uses.  He did give me the names, but I didn't write them down so I've forgotten.  They have been checking those two on a regular basis with no luck.  After me raising the bar (and a little heat), he looked at other distributors and LOW AND BEHOLD, they found one.  The reason he hadn't used this distributor is because he got "screwed" back during the gun grab scare of a couple years ago where the distributor was price gouging (saying "out of stock" and the next day magically "in stock" at a much higher price).  He was a gentleman about it and apologized for the delays.  I calmed down.  We shook hands, chatted about 22 ammo hording and parted amicably.  Pistol should be here Monday !!

Just a personal note.  This was really "out of character" for me.  I'm the kind of guy who normally doesn't complain  about bad service, I simply just don't go back.  I've never been one to confront.

Congrats on the forward progress.

Once you get your pistol, then you won't have to go back anymore.

it's amazing some of the things we are capable of achieving if we dare to go outside of our comfort zone. Congrats.

Sounds like you are happy.

The year of manufacture will be stamped on the slide, usually around ejection port.
