CZ 455 barrel constriction!!!
« on: September 09, 2014, 08:46:41 PM »
I recently bought a new CZ 455 Varmint....
When cleaning, I am unable to get a .22 rimfire bore brush to pass completely thru the barrel.....
This is a BRUSH!!!! How tight must this constriction be?????

From the breech, it will go smoothly to almost the tip of the forearm......
From the muzzle, same, smoothly to about the forearm tip area..
Seems to have a constriction mid barrel, not very good for accuracy... >:(

CZ contacted by email today........

Others having same issue??

It's been a couple years, but it was a real shock the first time I pushed a patch through my 455. Or it might have been a brush. I remember thinking I had no choice but to continue pushing rather than backing out.

Since then I've been very careful not to cut my patches too large and I'm using a rod from a .177 cal airgun.

I've seen differences of opinion on whether there is really a restriction but I'd say there is. Seems to be good for accuracy.

After communicating with CZ....
I believe what I've run across is CZ's tight bore and a .22 rod.
.17 rod...adapter...22 brush = no problem.
