83 stamped 380 auto
« on: September 18, 2014, 08:34:36 AM »
I've been here for a little while and been acquiring some CZs and until now I've never seen an 83 stamped 380 auto. All have been Browning Court or 9mm Browning. Does anyone know about their scarcity or any facts about them?

380 auto is an American calibre denomination. The rest of us know it as 9mm short,  9mm cort, 9mm kurz, 9mm browning, etc

Since they are made in Europe I imagine you will never find one marked as 380 auto

Yes, I had imagined the same thing, which is why I posted the question upon seeing one apparently stamped 380 Auto for sale on GB.  I'm trying to upload a pic of the ad, but I'm not seeing how to do it. I'll keep trying.

Strange. It may have had the text changed at some point I guess. There are some markings there that definitely aren't on mine

Huh!

I bid on that one within my limited budget (was outbid by $5) and did not even notice the markings.  I bought my only CZ83 from Coles Dist. a couple of years ago so I had to go look.  The slide is marked "MOD 83  CAL 9 BROWNING".
