P-06 vs. P-07
« on: October 13, 2014, 07:08:30 PM »
My apologies if this is in the wrong section.

I'm looking to branch out from my beloved Glocks into something with a hammer that is DA/SA. I have decided on a CZ, but am torn between a P-06 and a P-07 in .40 caliber. Both feel great to me, and I am having a hard time deciding between the two. I don't have a preference for the polymer frame vs. the aluminum frame. I do like that the P-06 comes with night sights stock, but it's not a deal-breaker that the P-07 doesn't. Although I'm not too happy that the P-06 has a capacity of 10 rounds versus the 12 round capacity of the P-07 .40, I can live with it. I initially went and held a used P-07 Duty at a shop and really liked it, but once I went to a different shop and held a P-06 against an updated for 2014 P-07, I feel like the P-06 won out, at least in the feel of the controls department. I can appreciate the grips that either one has. The research I have done says overall that either is good, and I may end up owning both eventually, but which should I start with? I can get a P-07 for about $120 cheaper than a P-06.

After some consideration, I am kind of leaning toward the P-06, but am concerned if I end up being affected by "trigger sting" that seems to affect some.  My main reason for the concern is that I experience that when I shoot my friend's Sig P320.  Hickok 45 complained of the same thing in his video of that gun.  I do not experience it with any other guns I own or have shot.  I am also playing with the idea of getting the P-07 in .40 and then getting a 9mm upper to swap calibers if desired, and a P-01 or a P-02 down the road, as the round capacity is more to my liking.  I'm really just confused on what to do I suppose.

So, any input?

I have a P-06 and love it.  No trigger sting.  You can get Mec-Gar mags ($26) for the full size CZ 75 from Midway.com, which holds 12 rounds (40 cal), and put an SP0-1 base ($9) from CZ on the mag.  That combo only leave a gap of less than 1/8 inch between the mag base and the pistol frame, and is only about 1/8 inch taller in overall pistol height.  That combo is as good as the OEM mags, and as a matter of fact, Mec-Gar makes most CZ branded mags anyways.

Thanks for the reply.  Glad to hear there are cheaper options for mags for the P-06.
