PO1 vs. Canik C-100
« on: November 16, 2014, 11:44:34 AM »
The PO1 and the Canik C-100 seem to be very similar in appearance and in that they each have the alloy frame.
I already own the C-100 and it is a very nice pistol. Only about 500 rounds through it so far.
Is there any advantage to the PO1, other than the CZ name, to the point that I would want to replace it with a P01? By the way, I love my CZ 85b.

Sold a couple of PCRs and P01s to go with the Canik because I wanted all safety type guns and no decockers.

P01 has the rail and is slightly heavier than the Canick which is more like the PCR. The hard chrome on the canik wears really well.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Support for the P01 will be better.  I understand CZ-USA has raised their game over the years.  P01 has a rail, and of course all cz parts will fit.  Also, I believe the cz finish will be more durable unless you get the chrome.  The Canik has a manual safety.  The DeCocker on the p01 is not quite as nice as a P07 for example.  Also the canik reset IS better.  Shorter and more tactile.  The CZ TRIGGER is likely better OTB but this varies by gun.

Uh.. the P01, but I've had an awful personal experience with Turkish guns, ruining them all for me.

I have both a P-01 and a Canik55 Stingray-C. I can tell you that my experiences are the opposite of briang2ad. My reset is much shorter on the P-01. In fact I have gotten dead trigger a couple of times on my Stingray-C due to the mushy long reset. The decocker on my P-01 is light years better than my P-07s decocker was. The P-07s had a nasty snap to it and sometimes would even kind of sting my thumb. Hated that decoker hahaha. The Stingray-C did have a lighter trigger OTB, but like I said the long take up makes me shoot the P-01 better. I feel they are both very solid guns and both very accurate and reliable. I'd say choose whichever one you like more in hand and just buy it. You won't be disappointed with either.

My opinions are subjective and observation based. Not intended to slam canik. Lucky enough to have all of these in the house.  I think there is an obvious difference in quality. Put a canik barrel in one hand and a cz in the other,  cz seems more substantial. Remainder of build is probably neglegible except cz has better finish.  I have several thousand rounds through a c100 and not one issue. Carry canik more than my cz so I have faith in it, hate safeties and manually decock.   Carry c100 more because it is a reliable, cheap beater pistol.  When finish looks like crap you can rattle can it and it looks like new.
I don't see a need to trade out,  but cz is worth the few extra bucks for better perceived quality and they actually have parts and customer service.

Why did Constantinople get the works?   ;D

Ohell, nice to hear you have so many rounds through your C-100. That is impressive. It si good to hear that these bargain priced C-100 are holding up so well. If you don't mind, you may want to go post that in a thread that I started here in the CZ Clone Club: http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=52332.0
