Please school me
« on: November 24, 2014, 01:53:46 PM »
Hello everyone.  A few months back I fired a CZ for the first time.  I was at my local gun range and finishing up when I noticed they had a 75b Omega in the rental case.  I had wanted to shoot one of these for a long time, hadn't even handled one up until that point.  I figured, ah hell, I'm going to rent it and put a box through it.  Man oh man what a surprise.  I'm by no means a crack shot, but I was practically driving tacks with the thing and had never shot one before.  The only other gun I've ever been able to do that with is the Beretta 92.  After that experience, I just had to have one.  I went out and purchased the 75 compact (steel frame).  I pick it up tomorrow, had to have it ordered because my LGS was out.  I now want to get a full sized as well, and don't know if I want to get the standard, or Omega model.  I know I want the safety vs. decocker; I learned to shoot on Hi Powers and 1911's, so condition one carry is my preference.

My questions are basically, what are the major differences between the Omega and standard 75B?  I know the Omega has a simpler trigger system, but does it share a commonality of parts with the standard model?  I'd like to get a kadet kit eventually, and from what I understand, this will work on my compact, but won't with the Omega without some modification to either the kit or the pistol.  Also, I've read, but haven't been able to confirm, that magazines between the Omega and other 75's may not be compatible?

Please school me on the differences, I'm going to buy a full size, just debating on which one of the two, Omega or standard version.

Thanks!

YouTube has some videos with comparos of the 2 different CZ systems, the Omega is supposed to be a much less complicated design internally.  That is how I compared my CZ75BD to the Omega bepfore purchasing the BD.  Here's a link: http://www.czforum.com/index.php?topic=3086.0
