New SP 01

Hi

Picked up a nice new SP 01 Saturday from a not very local dealer and got it out to the range today. I must say its a very impressive pistol. My 75 BD is a darn fine pistol, but the SP 01 beats it hands down.  The SP 01 is more accurate than my BD and it hits right at POA straight out of the box. It fits well in my hand and the trigger doesnt bite much. Its an 06 version and the night sights are VERY neat. I was a little worried about how they would do in daylight, but so far not a problem at all. Of course both the BD and SP 01 point a bit better than a CZ 52, but thats no surprise.

The only problem in 200 rounds was an odd one. Id call it a timing problem. Pull the trigger and the hammer doesnt fall. Thumb back the hammer, release it and it falls. Cycle the trigger a second time and the hammer falls. I also had it happen a couple times during the mandatory eight billion dry fires watching TV Saturday night. I have had it happen both with single action and double action. When it happens single action it feels like something is dragging as the trigger cycles. Right now Im not planning on doing much about it, just hoping it goes away. Its a range gun, if it was for carry I might look at the problem a little differently.

The trigger started off as classic CZ. Single action was poor and double action was worse. So far single action has made it up to usable and the double action trigger has gone from ugly to bearable. Back to dry firing, bathing the thing in oil, and wearing out the little green inserts on the snap caps.

We need pictures of the new gun.

If I, when pulling the trigger in SA, put ALOT of weight sideways on the trigger the hammer sometimes stops at half-cocked when dropping.

Maybee Youre problem is same issue but more frequent?

I asked a local gunsmith with great experience of CZ and he said it was easy to fix.

Hi

I'll see what I can do about some family pictures.

In my case the hammer is at full cock and the trigger cycles full front to all the way back. Everything is normal *except* the hammer does not fall.

I'm guessing it's a burr on the sear and it will wear off.

Hi

Well I finally found a way to duplicate the issue on the SP01. If I apply light upward pressure to the left hand safety in single action mode I get the same results.

Did a detail strip and surprise - there is big burr on the safety.  A little work with a stone took it off. After re-assembly the problem seems to be gone. Ill have to do a few thousand dry fires to be sure.
