Market for VZ 58 - Czechpoint original?
« on: January 01, 2015, 03:47:28 PM »
I am considering selling my CP VZ 58 - this NOT pursuant to an add here, as I plan to sell at a club locally.  I'd sell with 4 mags - in black, legal followers.

I plan to sell in the original configuration with beaver barf for $900 OR with folder, NEA rail and Israeli pistol grip for $1000.

WOULD these seem to be reasonable prices given that 7.62 guns seem to be rare now?  Or, does the availability of cheap CAI rifles keep the prices lower?

I live in Northern VA, so folks have money, but not everyone knows what a VZ 58 is either.

Thanks.

Bare I would ask $1k.  With the accessories, $1250 is fair...  Keep an eye on gunbroker for what things are selling for these days...  New from Czechpoint are ~$1200 these days...

Don't look at what is asked but what sells. Your pricing is correct for used and RSR's would be for NIB.

Czechpoint is always sold out at ~$1200.  Take that for what it's worth.  Depending on the # of rounds you have through and condition, if it's nearly new folks will pay new prices due to them being so scarce.

You can always start an auction at a set minimum $ and then set the buy now where you'd ideally like to end up... Pretty confident that you will find multiple willing buyers at my #s...

IMHO your rifle is worth 1000 bucks in original condition and
I would not take less than 1250 for it if it has the full NEA rails.

Also bear in mind most of the CSA being sold on Gunbroker were the speculators that bought up the less desirable single stack.  Those are usually the $900 range auction rifles...

I plan to sell the NEA rail separate for $150.  It is complete and I bought a nerw plunger and spring.  I also have the folder which I will sell separately.

OR should I sell all the beaver barf separately and sell with NEA setup for $1150?  Thanks...

I don't think there is a big market for the Beaver Barf furniture, but there is for the aftermarket rails.  I would sell it with the Beaver Barf stock and grip and then sell the railed forend separately.  You would probably get more selling it that way.

Briang2ad,

Speaking from recent experience - I tried to to sell a basically brand spanking new Czechpoint I upgraded with an awesome US wood stock.  I had a reasonable under break even reserve and the rifle hit only 1050. on Gunbroker.  That was with the wood stock and the polymer as an extra.  Next week it might go more - that's the nature of GoBroker of course...  Needless to say, I still have it;)   As a NOVA refugee, you could always do Armslist since you have so many people up there.  You can transfer at a shop up there to help CYA.   Good luck!

Thanks very much gentleman. I will sell it below 1000 and I figure through a club and checking out someone's drivers license I should be good to go.  I just want to avoid the normal shipping and hassle and also the tax shops put on it typically for consignment.

Gunbroker prices and local FTF prices are completely different. A gun in that price range will be a tough sell locally

I'd sell the rifle without the NEA rails. Put the beaver barf forend on it, and whichever stock the buyer prefers. I say that because you can sell the folder or the BB stock for about the same $$... based on what I paid on eBay for a folder ($35)... and the deal included a VZ58 cleaning kit, which I needed/wanted.
You can sell the rifle for less that way (attracts more buyers maybe), and sell the rails and extra stock separately.
Some people won't realize what those rails are worth, but others will.

I made out very well doing that with a Galil- bought a bunch of stuff as a package then sold the rifle alone, made a bunch more on the extra accessories. Not saying a VZ and a Galil command the ssme interest, but in general selling accessories with a gun rarely gets you as much as separating them.
