Trigger reset on VZ2008
« on: February 22, 2015, 02:05:14 PM »
My apologies as this has been beat to death but I want to verify an issue I've been having with my new CAI VZ2008.

I jumped on the recent deal at PSA and got myself a VZ2008 and 3 mags. I did a basic disassembly, cleaning, and lubing and put it all back together.  I went out to shoot it yesterday and I "think" I'm having the gremlin issue but not entirely sure.

Every once in the while my trigger fails to reset. It feels like I'm pulling it with the safety on. I slowed down my shooting and kept the trigger depressed while letting the bolt cycle. While releasing the trigger I sometimes would hear and feel a 'click'. When I could feel this click I knew that I could fire another round.

However, when I didn't hear or feel the click the gun would not fire. To 'fix' it I could pull the trigger a few times and it would eventually fire. I didn't need to cycle the bolt to fix the issue, however if I did cycle the bolt it would also fix the issue.

The reason I'm not sure if I have the gremlin issue is because from what I have read it seems like the only way to reset the trigger is by cycling the bolt. Like I said above, I could keep pulling the trigger and it would eventually fire. Is this the gremlin?

I've tried different magazines, two types of ammo, and disassembled and reassembled everything to make sure that my parts fit properly. I also made sure that my safety was worked all the way into the proper positions during my range time. I don't know if I want to send it off to get tabbed because I'm not 100% sure if that would fix the issue since the gun will eventaully fire without having to manually cycle the bolt. However I'm new to this stuff and I don't really understand how this all works.

Thanks!

Without looking at your rifle it's hard to make a diagnosis, but it sounds like the dis-connector may be hanging up. I've seen a similar problem with an SKS, a through cleaning and lube fixed the problem. I'd give it s tear down and clean, make sure the dis-connector is not bent or has a burr.
